Not Every Friend Is Clapping For You

In this episode, hosts Walter Petitt and Natasha Petitt dives into one of the hardest truths in life — that not everyone who smiles in your face or calls you “friend” is genuinely happy for you. Hidden Enemies explores the emotional side of fake support, silent jealousy, and the pain of realizing that some of the people closest to you are secretly hoping you fall.

This isn’t just about social media likes — it’s about real life energy. Walter uses humor, honesty, and raw conversation to unpack why people pretend to clap for your success but quietly root against you, and how to recognize, release, and rise above that negativity.

🎙️ Walter Petitt – Bio

Walter Petitt is the visionary behind Mass Media Network and host of the Mass Media Podcast along with his wife and co-host Natasha Petitt, blending music, culture, and real-world conversations that inspire and inform. A multi-talented musician, producer, and sound engineer, Walter’s journey is rooted in a rich family legacy of music and innovation.

His musical lineage runs deep — his grandfather, classically trained by his own mother, toured with jazz greats such as Count Basie, Cab Calloway and Nat King Cole, leaving an enduring mark on American music. That same creative energy inspired Walter’s lifelong passion for sound.

Walter began his career performing with gospel groups including "The Voices of Heaven" and "The Divine Gospel Singers", touring throughout Texas and appearing on the Bobby Jones Gospel Show. His entrepreneurial drive led him to found "Spice Flava Records", where he produced, recorded, mixed, and engineered music under "Platinum Track Productions". He produced "Southern Saucy’s" debut 1999 album 'Southside Ride', followed by their sophomore release on their own label, "Saucy Lab Records". The hit single “Ballin N Tha Country” featured Houston rap legend 'Lil’ Keke", connecting Walter’s production work to the heart of the Texas hip-hop scene.

As a promoter, Walter brought national artists to Abilene, Texas — including 'Ginuwine', 'Donnell Jones', 'Ideal', 'K-Ci & JoJo', and comedians from "BET’s Def Comedy Jam" — while also spotlighting Houston talents like 'Lil’ Flip' and 'Slim Thug'. His wife, a member of 'Faze 360', performed with the legendary 'Lynn Collins' and auditioned for 'Motown' under the leadership of the late 'Andre Harrell'.

Today, Walter continues to create, mixing and producing new music for his son, who has achieved radio success and is carrying forward the family’s artistic legacy. Beyond music, Walter has supported his family through a successful career in "technology", including building "websites and mobile apps", bridging creativity and innovation in every field he touches.

Through the "Mass Media Network", Walter fuses his experience in music, media, and storytelling to produce original podcasts, documentaries, and creative content that amplify voices and explore real-world issues. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Walter’s legacy is one of purpose, passion, and faith — proving that real talk, real issues, and real media can inspire change.
